RED

175.000 sqm

Russia

2014

Capitalizing on tremendous local growth (Dyer’s fourth large scale project in Ekaterinburg), Dyer designed RED Shopping Centre to celebrate the modern, expanding city with a state-of-the-art building envelope, a unique statement that brings excitement within traditional urban environment. A palette of warm, bold colors and a large skylights and grand entrance make the center warm, light-filled and inviting.

Focusing on sustainability as well as aesthetics, the main entrance features a living green wall, blurring the line between the natural and built environment. The scheme boosts four levels of retail; two underground parking levels with total of 175.000 sqm gross building area.

Intense winters also challenged the designers to create an open, light building in a cost-effective way, resulting in the strategic positioning of glazed areas in public spaces, maximizing sunlight, and interiors filled with bright colors and reflective surfaces.

The exterior skin helps to objectify the building enhancing the importance of this future strong brand, which will enable the center to establish a dominant presence within the surrounding neighborhood, which currently lacks character. The choice of materials and color palette for external envelope and sophisticated lighting design brings a level of happiness for the costumers and pedestrians, which due the special design is weather and time proof. The golden finish of cladding panels was the right choice to create a modern and striking design with a touch elegancy and class.
