Krasnodar City Mall

100.000 sqm

Russia

2010

Dyer was selected to prepare the full concept design for the phase two extension to the existing Gallery Mall in downtown area of Krasnodar. The site for the new development is adjacent to the existing shopping mall but is separated by a busy city road with heavy trolleybus traffic. For this reason the design had to overcome the absence of the strongest retail link on ground floor, instead drawing people to the upper levels where a sky bridge would allow them to cross over to the brand new shopping gallery.

The retail mix had to be carefully planned to take into consideration this circulation pattern, therefore the food court with the largest food offer possible, was placed on the bridge creating a natural meeting point and central focus right between the two square buildings The external envelope had to create continuity with the existing building but with a recognisable fresh character to enforce the brand new development within the city. For this reason the original colour theme of the facades were kept and reimagined for more contemporary new facades.
