Detsky Mir

The wonderful building of Detskiy Mir is a unique architectural statement in the very heart of Moscow. Its special history has an everlasting significance in the educational development of many generations of children.  It is our mission to continue this tradition and guide it through the next generations while understanding how to combine traditions with the continuously evolving inventions in the fields of technology, science, games.

One of the most challenging tasks was to create a link between history and the future, through the exciting present, to allow children to enjoy the modern trends in gaming, fashion, toys while still educating them about our past and understanding the roots we all share. To translate this idea into architectural expression of the interiors was a key principle of our design approach.

We had to understand that the traditional static expression of interior spaces and architectural forms would not work here. This is why we created the “RIBBON”.

This single feature element is more than just a carefully sculpted architectural form, which creates a link between the various interior zones, functions, activities and interactive surfaces, but it is a timeless idea, which will be able to evolve and reinvent itself in the future. It is the IDEA which will make it truly timeless but the proposed execution of the exact shape is a state-of-the-art sculptural piece which also brings excitement into the process of discovery.

This discovery is the true adventure that our interiors can offer. A journey which will captivate people to follow through the various floors of activities, to interact in breakout spaces, to engage into games, sports, history, music, science while fulfilling basic navigation , signage and advertising functions. All these ideas are embodied into a single piece of art, the internal nerve system of Detskiy Mir, where the roots of our history are reaching into the sky with no boundaries, only full of hope and happiness, as a clear reflection of the soul of our children.
