This Master Plan for Libyan Government Developer LIDCO is located on part of the site previously owned by the Al Waha Oil Company in Tripoli. The plot sits on a strategic location off the main highway that links the airport with the centre of Tripoli at the junction with a new ring road that is currently under construction. The high visibility of the site and its excellent transport connections with the airport make it ideal for a mixed use Master Plan that will contain a landmark commercial element to provide a hotel, retail and leisure as well as much needed quality office space. At the core of the site sits a residential area aimed at the local market as well as at growing numbers of expats coming to Lybia to work in the oil and construction industries. Each of these areas provides underground and surface car parking. Towards the northern edge of the site a primary and secondary international schools for GEMS complete the brief for the project. An attractive promenade connects a series of outdoor spaces and squares and brings together the different parts of the scheme. Great care has been taken to ensure that quality public realm and vibrant street life become the key elements to help to make the area a desirable place to work, shop and live.
